The Truth About Organic Gardening

Did you know that there are thousands upon thousands of people who consider organic gardening as something mystical or from the "Hippie" age? Why it has been so easily misconstrued is beyond me. Let me tell you there is nothing mystical about using "mother natures" own creations (natural ingredients), brought about by the earth and animals, to plant your own natural garden. Let us dispel the so called "mysticism" idea of organic growing held by many by reading on.

It has been the mistaken belief by many people, that gardens planted without chemicals were set about by the rebelling "Hippies" and "Flower Children" of the 1960's. I strongly suspect your forefathers would find fault with that belief. The fact is that as increasing media attention was given to the "Hippies" and "Flower Children", several people were discovering organic gardening for the first time.  What they didn't understand was that it has been around for centuries upon centuries.

The Amish farmers are a lineage of farmers that have applied all natural growing for centuries. These amazing farmers keep on practicing all natural crop growing with truly fantastic results.  Despite the availability in today’s modern world, of man made chemical fertilizer, pesticides and weed killer. It’s not only in America that “organic” growing is practiced. Numerous countries around the world nevertheless use century old techniques of natural growth.

There is some other myth about natural growing of your garden and that is you will never be able to keep all the bugs and pest out of it. People think you just can't control bug infestations  without using chemical based and expensive pesticides. Once more it just isn't true. Among the most effective natural methods to control the pest is to employ their deadly enemy. Birds! On the other hand you ask “How can you draw in enough birds?” To put it simply, you make an environment around your garden that is friendly for the birds.

By placing a birdhouse or birdhouses that are especially made for the type of birds that frequent your area, is among the better ways to attract the birds early on. Not only do you provide a nesting area for them but make water fully available to them. You can be as simple or sophisticated as you like. Simply, a small container filled with water is sufficient or if you are after sophistication then how about a running fresh water fountain. When the birds have been attracted to your garden and see they can feed on your bug infestation your problem will be resolved soon after.

Honestly, with a visit to your local nursery or more research on the internet, you will see the truth and become more knowledgeable about organic gardening. The real truth is not only is it a great way to help restore “Mother Earth” to it’s own good health but also improve your families health.
